Elements of Art
Seven "building blocs of art" that all students will need to understand, recognize and utilize in their own works: Color, Line, Value, Shape, Texture, Space and Form.
Principles of Design
Placing the "building blocks of art" into a framework that communicates ideas and feelings. Learning these seven "guidelines" helps students create strong visual ideas: Balance, Contrast, Pattern, Rhythm, Movement, Emphasis and Unity.

Art History and CriticismStudents learn that art is "MOORE" than just a pretty picture. Art captures cultural heritage and and human history. We learn about how past events and human emotions affect artists and their creations and in turn, students learn to place value on the artwork they view and create.
Warm-Ups and Portfolios
Students continually work to hone their artistic skills daily. Daily painting exercises will broaden their use of different media (ex: Watercolor, Tempra, Acrylic and mixed media). They will see their growth progression throughout the class by collecting their work in a digital portfolio.
