ART SUPPLIES
I've set up a "ART SUPPLY PACKAGE" to purchase at Jerry's Art-A-Rama (in North Raleigh). They are giving us a discount on these items. Ask for the package at the front desk (they should have the items on a list). For Carolina Artists and Commercial Art it's about $37. For Drawing 1, you can eliminate the $7.99 paint brush set (unless you really want the brushes to paint later.)
You may also view the SUPPLY LIST HERE ( take a look at what you have at home already and then purchase missing items at stores. Definitely, shop around!)
All other students that do not have the ability to purchase these items, please see Mr. Kreacic during the first week of classes to figure out a plan.

Students need to have their OWN set of supplies in a PORTABLE carrier to bring back and forth to school (Sorry, but no storage available for student art supply containers)
- A good "fishing tackle" box or "tool box" can work (to hold all of your supplies)
- COLOR PENCIL SET (Prismacolor is good brand!)
- *PAINTBRUSH SET (FOR Carolina Artists and Commercial Art ONLY) (I'd start with a small brush set and get a "detailing", small sized ROUND brush - size 0, 2/0, 3/0, or 4/0). See Dick Blick for more on this...http://www.dickblick.com/productinfo/learn/brushes/
- Drawing Pencil Set (Several #2 Pencils will work)
- Kneaded Eraser (it's like gray putty)
- White Vinyl Eraser (Please don't buy Pink Pearl or "Eraser Caps"- those leave marks on your paper... YUCK!)
- Tortillion (All three sizes: small-medium and large) Grey stumps are used for SHADING and blending
- SHARPIE PENS: (Start with BLACK and include FINE POINT too)

Every student needs a minimum of ONE EXAMPLE of work for EACH CLASS taken at Moore Square (Yes, that's 7 classes / 7 examples-MATH / ELA /Social Studies/ Science and Electives). For students taking multiple art classes over the three years, you should make ONE SEPARATE SECTION labeled "VISUAL ART" with sub folders for each art class completed at Moore Square. You will need to show your GROWTH as you progress in grade levels and move forward in your educational career.
WHAT DO I NEED in my 8th Grade "DIGITAL PORTFOLIO"?
Visually record (take pictures) and store on your drive ALL of your work (even in steps: beginning, middle and final).
IN MAY: 8th GRADE STUDENTS CHOOSE YOUR BEST 8 Artworks (with text reflections) to present as part of your FINAL ART PORTFOLIO.
